Comic Book Apocalypse: The Graphic World of Jack Kirby opens at the CSU Northridge Main Gallery in just two days—this Monday, Aug. 24. It will be up for seven weeks, through Sunday, Oct. 10, and open the following hours:
Monday-Saturday, 12:00 noon to 4:00pm (closed Sunday)
Thursday, 12:00 noon to 8:00pm
The opening reception will take place a week from today, on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 4:00 to 7:00pm. This reception will involve no lecture or panel, just folks getting together to bask in the art. The reception is free and open to the public!
Then, on Monday, Aug. 31, at 10:00 to 11:00am, Kirby biographer Mark Evanier will join me for a gallery talk about Kirby’s life and work. Again, this is a free, public event, open to all!
How to get to the show? The Art Galleries are located on the north end of the CSUN campus, within the Art and Design Center on North University Dr. (Plummer St.) between Lindley and Etiwanda Street. Park in Lot D6 and E6, which are very close to the Galleries. Parking is $6/day, 24/7.
The Galleries’ website gives more information, and includes a helpful Directions/Parking page. Don’t hesitate to leave comments here on this blog, if you should have questions (or message the Galleries through their Facebook page).
